We all are familiar with the frustration of when your phone begins to malfunction. But the good news is that most common issues can be solved simply by following a few simple steps. No need to panic or dive to a repair center immediately. Let’s go through some simple solutions that can get your phone feeling great again.

Phone Won’t Charge

Check your charging cable and charger for starters. Are they connected correctly? Are either of them damaged or frayed? Sometimes a small amount of dirt or fluff inside the charging socket can prevent it from making connection so brush them clean with a soft brush or blast them with some compressed air. If that doesn’t fix it, try replacing with a new cable or charger to check if the issue lies with your accessories. And remember, a simple restart can often do the trick to reboot your phone’s system.

Battery Draining Too Fast

Is your battery dying before the day is through? Take a glance at which apps could be hogging power in the background and shut down or remove the ones you don’t require. Reducing your screen brightness and decreasing the screen timeout can also conserve valuable battery life. Turning off features such as location tracking, background app refresh, and push notifications when you don’t require them also makes a huge difference. If your battery is still not holding a charge, it may be time to have it replaced.

Phone Overheating

A hot phone is not comfortable and can be damaging if this occurs frequently. Attempt to remove your phone case in order for it to cool down more quickly. Refrain from using your phone outdoors in direct sunlight or extremely hot areas. Shut down background applications that may be stressing your phone too much. Also, ensure your phone’s software is updated. Occasionally, updates contain patches that make your device cooler to run.

Phone Feeling Slow

If your phone is freezing or running slowly, begin by clearing cache to clear space and give it some elbow room. Uninstall unused apps and purge old documents that only serve to consume space. A quick restart can also clear temporary data and make things faster too. If all is still sluggish, a factory reset could be your best bet but reserve this as a last resort as it wipes your phone clean.

Trouble with Connecting to Wi-Fi or Cellular

Double-check that airplane mode is not inadvertently on and your network settings are correct. Turn your phone and your Wi-Fi router off and on again. Sometimes they just need a reboot to get along. If Wi-Fi is constantly dropping, then try to forget the network and join again. Keeping your software up to date helps as well so your phone can communicate smoothly with new networks.

Apps Keep Crashing

If an app closes repeatedly by itself, the initial action to take is to update it. Programmers sometimes create solutions to bugs that crash the app. Clearing out the app’s cache and data may resolve things and restarting your phone can refresh all behind-the-scenes things. If it persists, uninstall and reinstall the app to ensure you have a clean new version.

Screen Freezing or Not Responding

Attempt a soft reset by pressing and holding the power button for several seconds to restart your phone. If your phone allows you, pulling out and putting in the battery can also initiate a restart. Ensure that your phone’s software is up to date. It may include necessary bug fixes. Also, ensure that your screen protector or any physical damage is not posing an issue.

Phones can be finicky but with a bit of patience and these easy steps many issues can be resolved without hassle. If you’ve done all you can and things still don’t seem quite right, don’t be afraid to call in a professional or your phone’s customer support. Sometimes a helpful hand is all one needs to get you back on track.

Keep in mind your phone is there to enhance your life and a bit of TLC will take it a long way towards keeping it happy and healthy.
