The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is already generating buzz months ahead of its anticipated launch early next year. According to recent leaks, Samsung’s next flagship may feature a significant camera overhaul—one that goes beyond just boosting megapixels. If true, these changes could mark a bold step forward in mobile photography, positioning the Galaxy S26 Ultra as a standout in an increasingly competitive smartphone market.
Sony in, ISOCELL out?

One of the biggest surprises? The Galaxy S26 Ultra may drop Samsung’s own ISOCELL HP2 sensor in favor of a 200-megapixel Sony CMOS sensor, according to Chinese tipster Fixed Focus Digital. If true, this would be the first time Samsung’s top-tier phone uses a Sony sensor for its main camera, marking a significant shift in strategy.
The tipped 1/1.1-inch Sony sensor would also be larger than the 1/1.3-inch sensor on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, potentially offering better light capture and overall image quality—especially in low-light scenarios.
The camera setup (so far)
Beyond the main sensor, the S26 Ultra is rumored to feature:
- A 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens
- A 12MP 3x telephoto camera
- A 50MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom
It’s also expected to include Samsung’s next-gen ProVisual Engine, which could bring advanced computational photography features.
Under the hood: Pure flagship power
The S26 Ultra will likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2—expected to debut this September. And yes, the phone is rumored to offer 16GB of RAM, making it one of the most powerful Galaxy phones to date.
Other expected specs include:
- 6.9-inch AMOLED display with even thinner bezels
- IP68 rating for water and dust resistance
- Possible discontinuation of the Plus variant, with Samsung focusing on just the Galaxy S26, S26 Edge, and S26 Ultra
